rockclimbing trips 2009.

My most memorable event at this site:
My most memorable event at this site is when our rock climbing instructor started singing and dancing to a Lady Gaga song, or when I finally reached the top of the wall.
How I challenged myself personally:
I challenged myself personally by seeing if I could climb to the top.
How I succeeded:
I reached my goal and reached the top more than once.
How I helped someone else:
I helped my rock climbing partner, by checking that everything was on right and doing routine checks and being their belayer. I also helped people by cheering them on!
What lesson I learned from this activity that I want to remember in the future:
I learned that you should always double check everything, because if even one little thing goes wrong it could cause a massive amount of damage to you, or other people!

2009 Canmore Nordic Centre trip. [journal]

1) Describe your most memorable event at this site (minimum 2 sentences). My most memorable event in Canmore was when Jacinda's frisbee landed in the cliff/creek thing and we had to climb down and climb back up to get it. I'm surprised we didn't seriously hurt ourselves, but it was really funny to watch.

2) How did you challenge yourself personally? I am not the best at throwing frisbees, or with cold and snow. I threw frisbees the whole day in the cold and snow. It was fun, though.

3) How did you succeed? I succeeded in not hitting someone on the head with my frisbee, and that itself is a big accomplishment to me. I also made it through the day in the snow.

4) How did you help someone else? Whenever somebody lost their frisbee in the forest or somewhere, we all helped find it, even though half the time it was me who lost my frisbee.

5) What lesson did you learn from this activity that you want to remember in the future? I learned that when your teacher tells you to bring warm clothes and a toque, you should always bring warm clothes and a toque.

Challenge Course Journal.

1) Describe your most memorable event at this site (minimum 2 sentences).
My most memorable event was when we were falling and being caught on the blanket thing by our classmates. It made us have to trust everyone, and it wasn't that bad once you actually fell.
2) How did you challenge yourself personally?
I have trust troubles, the trust exercises were difficult. I got through them and I learned to trust my peers in Outdoor Ed.
3) How did you succeed?
I succeeded in working with my group as a team, and I succeeded in communicating with my group. I also succeeded in getting to know the people in my group better.
4) How did you help someone else?
I helped Chantal and Hanna on the low ropes course by spotting them and catching them when they fell. I also helped my group by cheering them on during games.
5) What lesson did you learn from this activity that you want to remember in the future?
I learned that you should everything a try. Even though it might seem impossible at first, once you work as a team and communicate with each other you can get it done.
